1. At what point does a company require an optimization solution?
Any company that uses IP networking public or private, regardless of size,
should consider a solution from Exinda Networks. Frequently the 1700 is
used at branch / small office, the 4700 is typically deployed at the
Medium to Large Office whilst the 6700 is located at the WAN core /
datacenter. Exinda's smallest customers have only 5 internal users
whilst the largest campuses or corporations have in excess of 10,000
internal users or devices.
2.
Given that the Exinda 4700 is available to suit networks from 2Mbps to
100Mbps, do you need any special skills to install and operate it?
That
is one of the great things. It requires only basic networking skills to
install it but there are some very sophisticated tools that make it
suitable for the largest networks. It generally takes less than 30
minutes to do the basic installation.
3. Where is it usually installed?
Typically between the firewall and the internal network enabling visibility to all internal traffic
4. It sounds interesting but how do I justify a return on investment?
In bullet point the key ROI points are:
* Deferring network upgrades by monitoring and optimizing
* Enhancing application performance and service delivery
* Increasing employee productivity by imposing web and music download controls
* Reducing bandwidth charges
5. What are the intangible benefits?
We
find that customers love the visibility it provides to what is
happening on the network and the on-demand automated network reporting.
If you on bill customers or departments the accounting module is
included across the range as standard.
6. What is the fastest link you support?
The Exinda 1700 supports links up to 2 Mbps, the 4700 is licensed to
100Mbps, and the 6700 is licensed to 500 Mbps providing a range of
solutions to suit your WAN infrastructure.
7. If I have multiple offices do I need one at both ends?
Technically
the best solution is to provide one at both ends however our testing
and customer feedback indicates you will achieve substantial benefits
from one appliance at the host location only.
8. How do we manage multiple appliances?
Exinda
Networks has central management which enables the rapid deploying of large number of appliances
and maintenance of central policies for networking that can be grouped
and pushed out to remote appliances. Network status can be subsequently
monitored to assist with the management of networks.
9. Vendors talk of Layer 7 classification. Do you support this?
Yes.
With Exinda you can build and we supply application definitions. For
example you can identify and manage music downloads embedded in normal
web browsing.
10. Sounds great but how much does it cost?
You
will be surprised! Price ranges depending on exchange rate and the
model but vary between approximately US$999 and US$30,000.
11. How do I get further information or arrange an evaluation?
We have a number of appliances around the world so check out our partner page or email sales@exinda.com and we can put you directly in touch with a reseller or distributor.
12. What is UPM?
